New Birth - Justification

The New Birth

All people have sinned and are spiritually dead to God (Ephesians 2:1).

The new birth is the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart and life of the one who accepts Christ in faith. He has passed from death to life.

How can this happen? Through faith in Jesus Christ - read 1 John 5:1 (at the beginning of the verse).

1

Can one enter the Kingdom of God without being "born anew"?

Your response:

  • Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except
  • any one be born of water and of Spirit,
  • Jesus answered and said to him,
  •  he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:3-5)
  • into the womb of his mother and be born?
  • Except any one be born anew he cannot see the kingdom of God.
  • Nicodemus says to him, How can a man
  • Verily, verily, I say unto you,
  • be born being old? can he enter a second time
2

Is the new birth absolutely necessary - even for a devout and sincere person like Nicodemus?

At the beginning of John 3, it is stated that Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus and confessed to Him in sincerity, that He is "come from God, for none can do these signs which thou doest unless God be with Him."

Your response:

Does such a devout and honest person also need the new birth: Yes or No?
What does Jesus tell him? (at the end of verse 7): "You   be born anew."

3

What right was given to those who received Jesus Christ, those who believed in His name?

Your response:

John 1:12 states: "But as many as received Him, to them gave He the right to be   , to those that believe on His name."

4

Who is the believer in Jesus Christ born of?
