Jens had almost used up his pocket money. But the end of the month was nowhere in sight. He still wanted to buy so much!
How could he get some money? Suddenly he had an idea. He sat down at the table and began to write. He wrote an invoice for his father and mother. Over the past few days, he had done some work for them. He thought he was indeed entitled to some "wages" for that!
He laid his bill on the kitchen table and went to the playground. This is what his bill looked like:
When he came home in the evening, he found a 10 euro note on the table. Next to it was a bill that his mother had written.
Jens will never forget this bill in his lifetime! He quickly returned the 10 euro note to his mother. Suddenly, the things he wanted to buy did not seem so important anymore.
Tell me, what is it like for you?
Are you mostly occupied with yourself and making things as comfortable as possible for yourself? Or do you think about others as well? Have you ever thought about what your mother or your father or even your teachers do for you? Are you grateful to them for that?
Do you always say "thank you" when someone helps you or gives you something? Or are you constantly unsatisfied because you haven't yet received everything you want? Meanwhile, you may not even realize what you already have: for example, a home, a warm bed, enough to eat - can you list more things?

Do you know, we humans prefer to only think of ourselves. But this does not make us more content.
That's why God tells us in Colossians 3:15 (last sentence):
