Two of the 66 books of the Bible consist entirely of songs. These are the Book of Psalms and the Lamentations of Jeremiah. Additionally, there is a book that contains a song eight chapters long: The Song of Songs by Solomon. Among the existing 150 Psalms, the Psalm 23 is definitely the most well-known. We could call it the Shepherd's Psalm. Please read it a few times. Thousands and thousands of believers have thought of this Psalm in difficult times. It comforted them, and they found new courage. David's faith, his trust in his Lord, became a model for them.
David knew what it meant to be a shepherd. For he was a shepherd himself. He wandered with his father's flocks through the fields of Bethlehem. David was fully acquainted with this life. It was a dangerous life, a life with perils by day and by night. At times, David even had to risk his life for the sheep, of which he spoke on one occasion ... (1 Samuel 17:33-36)
