When a sinner turns to God and places his trust in the Lord Jesus, God forgives him his sins. In addition, the Bible speaks of the forgiveness necessary for the child of God who has been unfaithful to the Lord or has strayed from his path.
The first forgiveness has to do with our place in eternity. Anyone who is aware of the forgiveness of their sins is saved for all eternity. The forgiveness needed by the child of God when it sins refers to the restoration of the good relationship with its Heavenly Father. This relationship is disturbed or interrupted by sin.
