In the last lesson, we dealt with the side of the work that Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross that is directed towards God: the atonement (propitiation).
Now, we want to deal with the side that is directed towards us, the substitution. Let us remember once again that Christ died as an atonement for all, but only as a substitute for many, namely for believers.
First, we go back to Leviticus 16.
In this lesson, we now deal with the second goat, over which Aaron had to cast lots, the "Azazel", which means "turning away, the one who turns away or the one who departs" in Hebrew. The Azazel is sometimes also referred to as the "scapegoat".
