In this and in the next lesson, we will read about three men whose names you are surely familiar with: Peter, Judas and John.
They were among the disciples who accompanied the Lord Jesus for several years.
The Lord Jesus gave these disciples authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity.

Peter is a disciple who was particularly intimate with the Lord.
We read in some places that the Lord Jesus only took Peter, James, and John with Him. For example in Matthew 17:1; Mark 5:37 and Mark 14:33.
Just before His arrest, the Lord tells His disciples what lies ahead for Him.
Peter answers Him:
And he said to him, Lord, with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death. (Luke 22:33)
