In the New Testament, the Temple does not only refer to the actual sanctuary with the Holy and the Most Holy, but also to the buildings around the temple.
The Temple being spoken about here in Acts 3, was rebuilt after the captivity of the Jews in Babylon, embellished by Herod the Great, and dedicated in 10 BC.
Around the entire complex ran a wall of 30 cubits high (about 14 m) with nine gates. The most important gate was on the east side and was called "The Beautiful". Inside the wall, there were columned halls.
