The Acts of the Apostles - Part 1

Acts Chapter 5

Whenever God grants a new beginning, Satan attempts to destroy and corrupt. This started in the Garden of Eden. How beautiful and good was everything that God had created! But Satan managed to tempt the first human couple.

Here in Acts, at the glorious beginning of the assembly, the very same thing happened. God's great adversary, the old serpent, again manages to tempt a married couple.

Now read the fifth chapter of Acts and then answer the questions of this lesson.

1

What had Ananias sold? (Verses 1 and 8)

Your response:

He sold

2

Did he have to do this and what was possible after the sale? (Verse 4)

Your response:

3

There were many in the assembly who sold their lands and houses. Ananias and Sapphira, on the one hand, did not want to fall behind others in this respect and, on the other hand, did not want to give away so much money.

What lie did they therefore contemplate?

Your response:

  • something aside, and
  • They set apart
  • put a certain
  • from the proceeds
  • the feet of the
  • portion at
  • Apostles.

Ananias and Sapphira wanted to seem better than they actually were.

However, we read in the Hebrews: “And there is not a creature unapparent before him; but all things are naked and laid bare to his eyes, with whom we have to do.” (Hebrews 4:13)

We cannot deceive God!
