Cornelius believed in God, gave alms, and prayed. In his heart, faith was already present. He was God-fearing and practiced righteousness.

Without a doubt, this was pleasing to God. Nevertheless, the fear of God alone is not sufficient for attaining eternal life and for receiving the Holy Spirit.

Cornelius had to be introduced first to the one who can save sinners. Peter had to proclaim to him and those who were in his house, that Jesus of Nazareth is the Redeemer sent by God.

Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.
