Who is Satan?

The Word of God, the Bible, gives us various indications about Satan, the adversary of God. He is a fallen angel prince. In the prophet Ezekiel 28:11-19, we read about the fall and ways of Satan, who has become the "prince of this world." He succumbed to pride and wanted to be worshipped.

Yet God alone is worthy of worship (Matthew 4:8-10). Since then, Satan has been the adversary of God and of people. He wants to prevent people from being saved through faith in Jesus Christ. As soon as a person has heard the gospel, Satan comes immediately to take away the word that has been sown in their heart (Mark 4:15).

The Son of God has been revealed to destroy the works of the devil (another name for Satan) (1 John 3:8 at the end). Anyone who truly belongs to Christ must and can resist the tempter, because he is a defeated enemy.

The Scriptures in Matthew 25:41 and in Revelation 20:10 reveal to us that Satan will be thrown into the eternal fire, which is prepared for him and his angels (demons).
