Acts Chapter 7

Now read the seventh chapter of the Acts of the Apostles and then answer the questions in this lesson.

Stephen is accused of speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God (Chapter 6,11) and against the holy place and the law (Chapter 6,13).

"Is this so?" the high priest asks. This gives Stephen the chance to defend himself.

How does Stephen address the members of the Sanhedrin?

This is polite. After they still stand against the Holy Spirit at the end of his speech, he calls them:

Were their forefathers also so obstinate and persistent?

Yes, for Moses foretold in his farewell speech to the people of Israel:

For I know that after my death
and turn aside from the way
evil will befall you
what is evil in the sight of the LORD,
you will utterly corrupt yourselves,
in the latter days; because you will do
to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands. (Deuteronomy 31:29)
which I have commanded you; and

Your fathers have persecuted and killed the prophets over and over again!
