The Acts of the Apostles - Part 1

Acts Chapter 6

First, read the sixth chapter of the Acts of the Apostles.

For the second time, a shadow was cast over the glorious beginning of the assembly. In the case of Ananias and Sapphira, the cause was love of money.

Here it was the dissatisfaction of the Greek-speaking Jews from abroad, who were now living in Jerusalem. They grumbled because their widows were overlooked in the daily provision.

We can assume that these foreign Jews were right, yet their dissatisfaction is misguided. Instead of grumbling about it, they should have told the Apostles and expected the solution from the Lord.

Providing for the needy was viewed as an important matter by the Apostles. The men who were to undertake this task needed to have a good testimony and be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.
