Basic Bible Course on the Epistle to the Romans

Adam and Christ - Death and Life - Sin and Grace

After the apostle clearly stated in Chapter 4 that:

  1. Abraham was also justified by faith,
  2. circumcision is a sign (or seal, verse 11) of justification and not its basis,
  3. Abraham received the promise not on the basis of the law, but by faith and was declared righteous,

he now picks up the thread where he left off in Chapter 3:

For we reckon that a man is justified by faith, without works of law. (Romans 3:28)

Please read the first 10 verses of the fifth chapter.

1

Describe our relationship with God - if we believe in His Son (verses 1 and 2).

Your response:

Therefore having been
we have peace towards God
by whom we have also access by faith
and we boast
justified on the principle of faith,
through our Lord Jesus Christ;
in hope of the glory of God.
into this favor in which we stand,
2

Having peace with God also has implications on our daily life.

In what way (verses 3 to 5)?

Your response:

And not only that, but we also boast in tribulations,
and endurance,
and experience,
and hope
hope;
knowing that tribulation works endurance;
experience;
does not make ashamed.
3

So if you believe, you are justified and have peace with God. Furthermore, the love of God is poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

How did this become possible (verse 6)?

Your response:

  • without strength,
  • Christ has died
  • in the due time
  • being still
  • For we
  • for the ungodly.
4

In what way is God's love greater than the love of any human?

A possible answer can be found in verses 7 and 8.

But God commends His love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us

Your response:

But God commends his   to us, in that, we being still   , Christ   for us.
